Welcome to the San Antonio Writers Guild (SAWG)
The San Antonio Writers Guild is an organization of writers of all kinds and all levels of experience. Our purpose is to share information among all writers and help each other grow in our craft. Through contests, critique and other communication we are a friendly, invaluable fellowship.
COME TO A MEETING
A best first step for any new or established writer, whether you are new to the San Antonio area or have lived here for a long time, is to come to our first-Thursday-of-every-month meeting. There you will find advice, support and encouragement from like-minded people in your area. Each meeting offers workshops, programs and the chance at making new friends, acquaintances and possibly some valuable connections in the industry. Well, it could happen.

SAN ANTONIO WRITERS GUILD CONTESTS
The San Antonio Writers Guild hosts two annual contests.
The annual contest with a first Thursday in October deadline is a multi-category contest which accepts fiction, non-fiction, and poetry entries. Word limit depends on the entry. The rules for 2012 are posted on this website. Go to the contest page to see the rules and form for 2012.
The guild also sponsors the Louise Stewart contest which has a first Thursday in April. It is for members only and is an essay, story, or even poetry on a very specific subject that changes from year to year. Also, consult the contest page for next year's (2013) rules.
